Beef tips

When buying beef, you are better visiting a specialised butcher rather than a supermarket. A high street butcher will more often than not have a better range of beef cuts than the general food store, the meat will be better quality, will probably have looked after it in the right way, and will usually be pleased to give you tips on a few cooking tips.


Beef is an awful lot more prevalent in the United states than anywhere else in the whole world. If one were to total all the steaks, burgers and chilis consumed in the world, you would find that the United states is responsible for upto a quarter of the total.


Safety in the kitchen

If the deep fat fryer oil starts to smoke don't put the food in. Turn off the heat and leave it to cool.
  • Keep electrical leads away from water.
  • Don't put a plant pot or anything wet on top of an electrical appliance.
  • Check the toaster is clean and well away from curtains.

1 cn Campbell's Cream of Mushroom

-Soup (10 3/4 oz) 1 pk Campbell's Onion Soup and

-Recipe Mix 2 lb Ground beef

1/2 c Dry bread crumbs

1 Egg, beaten

1/4 c Water

Prep time: 10 minutes. Cook time: 1 hour 20 minutes. 1. Mix thoroughly 1/2 cup mushroom soup, onion soup mix, beef, crumbs

and egg. In 2 quart oblong baking dish, firmly shape into 8x4" loaf. 2. Bake at 350'F. 1 1/4 hours or until done. Spoon off fat; reserve

1-2 tablespoon drippings.

3. In 1 quart saucepan, combine remaining mushroom soup, water and

reserved drippings. Over low heat, heat through, stirring occasionally. Serves 8. Serving Suggestion: Pictured with carrots, sliced new potatoes and parsley.
