Dieting 101

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a weight loss program primarily devised by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet is not specifically a fat reduction diet, nevertheless many 'zone dieters' discover that they really lose weight when following it.
The supposed science behind the Zone Diet is that if you limit the levels of insulin and glucogen (two hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids which, as a result puts the body in a state of balance which is more wholesome than other diets, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone".
Sears states that when in the 'zone', your body is perfectly balanced and, because of this, doesn't convert energy to unsightly fat.
The most interesting technique of the diet is to keep tight control over the precise ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure your diet has increased levels of Omega 3 and omega 6.

Ingredients And Procedures
Ingredients
1poundbeef, chuck roast, trimmed
1eachonion soup mix, package
2 1/2cupwater
1eachonion, sliced
1eachcarrot, cut into 3 pieces
2eachcelery, chopped
1eachgarlic, clove
2eachpotatoes, red

Directions:

Brown the meat and the vegetables, for the gravy to have more flavor, although it's not necessary. Place the meat into the crockpot, then the vegetables; sprinkle on the onion soup mix and pour water over the top. Cover and cook on Low for 8-10 hours or until meat is tender.

Once the meat is done, if you want to thicken the gravy, remove the meat and vegetables from the pot and place them on a serving platter. Mix together 2 tablespoons flour and 2-3 tablespoons water to make a paste; whisk the paste into the hot liquid until thickened. You may want to put the temperature on High when you make the gravy.

Freeze the leftovers or make other dishes with it (burritos, noodle casseroles, enchiladas, etc).
