Buy Local Food : As an ‘everything in moderation’ kind of guy, I’d find a strict local food diet fascinating but obsessive and intimidating, says Peter Marks, program coordinator for the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project in Asheville, N.C. He suggests a more gradual approach: Every week or month, replace one food in your diet that’s provided by a big, faraway company with a locally grown food.

Beef tips

When buying quality cuts of beef, you are better doing your shopping at a butcher rather than a self-service food store. A proper butcher will more often than not serve a better range of beef cuts than the generic grocery store, he will know the full history of his beef, will have hung it in the right manner, and he will probably be happy to advise you on the best way to prepare it.

Beef is more prevalent in the 'u.s.' than anyplace else in the world. If one were to total the beef based meals cooked in the whole world, you would see that the Usa eats upto a quarter of the total amount.

The original had 146 calories and 4 grams of fat per serving. Source: Lisa Clarke I think I'm getting better at making up my own dishes. It was relatively easy, and quite good, too. * The Polka Dot Palace - The BBS for Homemakers! 1-201-822-3627 * Posted by LISA on 09-03-95
