Beef tips
Beef is an awful lot more in vogue in the North america than anywhere else in the whole world. If you were to keep a record of the steaks, burgers and chilis eaten on the planet, you would see that the 'u.s.' eats virtually 25% of the total.
When buying beef steak you are better doing your shopping at a specialised butcher rather than a supermarket. A quality butcher is likely to have a more extensive range of cuts than the supermaket, he will know the full history of his beef, will have looked after it in the right way, and he will probably be willing to give you advice on the best way to prepare it.
Cooking safety
Keep electrical leads from trailing over or going near the cooker.
- Don't overload sockets - one plug per socket is the rule, especially if the appliance takes a lot of power (like a kettle).
- Don't run extension cables across the floor as they can become worn.
- Is the electric kettle leaking? This can be dangerous.
