The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet primarily advocated by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet isn’t expressly a fat reduction diet, but many zone diet fans discover that they actually manage to lose a few pounds by following the zone diet.
The science behind the Zone Diet is that if you were to limit the levels of insulin and glucogen (both hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, as a result puts your body in a state of balance which is a lot more wholesome than usual, known as the 'zone'.
Sears alleges that a body that is in 'the zone' is working at its best and, as a consequence, doesn't build up layers of fat.
The most interesting process of the system is to maintain the precise ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure you get plenty of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils.

3 oz Olive oil

7 oz Onion, chopped

10 1/2 oz Cabbage,chopped

10 1/2 oz Tomatoes, chopped

1 pt Water

3 1/4 oz Lemon juice

4 tb Honey

3 1/4 oz Orange juice

1 oz Tofu balls

Heat oil & saute onions till translucent. Add cabbage & saute 5 minutes more. Add tomatoes, water, lemon juice, honey & simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Season with salt & pepper & remove from heat. Pour soup into food processor & puree to a smooth consistency. Refrigerate for 6 to 8 hours. Before serving, blend soup with orange juice. Place tofu balls in a dish & pour soup over the top. Garnish with julienned cabbage & chervil leaves. "Vegetarian Times Cookbook"
