In short, a low calorie weight loss regime depends on the fact that if you are going to lose weight, the important thing to injest less calories than you need.

Definition of a calorie?
A calorie is a measurement of the energy provided by food. The calorie is the the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of one gram of water by one degree celsius. If your meal contains more calories, then it will turn into more energy when eaten.

Low-cal foods include cauliflower, mushrooms, grapefruit, beef, and low-fat cheese.

1/2ptorange juice
1/2ptwater
2ozdried apricots
1pncloves
4ozpearl barley
1/2ozbutter, or margarine
1ozmixed nuts, chopped, opt.

Directions:

Put the orange juice & water into a pan. Add the paricots cut into
small pieces & the spice. Bring to a boil & add the barley. Cover &
simmer for about 1 hour, until the barley is tender. Add more orange
juice if necessary. The liquid should be absorbed when the barley is
ready.

Stir in the margarine & the nuts if using. Serve hot either as is or
with a splash of soymilk.
