Food and cooking tips

Have a Local Food Party : Instead of counting time or distance, simply enjoy the pleasures of local food by organizing a potluck meal in which everything must be local. Keep your fingers crossed that someone will splurge on handmade goat cheese, and don’t forget some local wine, beer or juice. If you’re organizing a big catered event, the Society for Nutrition Education has a downloadable brochure to help you line up local food resources.


Buy Seasonal Food : Food in season is the best you can buy. Apples taste better when they haven't been flown half way around the world. And buying in season encourages local producers who, boosted by factors like the rise in farmers' markets, are building a more sustainable food industry.






My Recipe File

I have always loved coming up with great recipe ideas for my family and friends - it gives me a nice warm feeling inside that I can't really explain.

I hate serving up the same boring old meals week-in-week-out, and so I try to experiment with exotic recipes from all over the world. When I find a great recipe idea that my family love it goes straight into my recipe database and gets used again (eventually)

I know I am not alone in feeling, and cooking, this way, so I decided to put all of my personal recipe collection on-line so that others can try them as well.

Please note - I have not tried cooking all of them (how could I, there are thousands!), but most of them come from the public domian, people I know and friends on the old usenet news groups.

If you have favorite recipes of you own that you want to share, please send them to me and I will add them to the collection.
